"dirty 30"
I picked up one of these used, and had it apart no less than four times before I got all the leaks sealed up. The repair man said they used to call them "dirty 30's" lol. The 300 model, which replaced the 30, is a much better design. A couple of weak spots are between the heat chamber, and heat exchanger. The heating element inside the heat chamber can warp, and cause issues with the upper and lower heating chamber gaskets. I would say that any user needs to be really careful about not exceeding the room capacity these are designed for. If you run them too hot, watch out.
I have two of the 73's, and absolutely love those models, but this one in general is not as clean burning, and is really prone to leaks. To my nose, they don't run nearly as cleanly emitting a bit of a "burnt smell" to them, and I had lots of sinus issues in my tiny house (336 sq. ft.)using this. Ultimately I changed it out for the 300. Again, a much better unit.
I think another reviewer said that the lifespan of these is fairly short, so I would be very careful about buying one used. I sunk way more money into mine then was really practical.
Positive note: Yes, there are many as well. These are super quiet running, and do a really good job at maintaining temperature. Much better than any other heating unit I own. Super high efficiency compared to other oil burners, and I believe can run 10 hours on 1 gallon of fuel at full bore. Most of the time this runs at one third or 5K btu, so very efficient on fuel. I like the fact they are really lightweight, and easily transported. Also very easy to install. One hole for the vent pipe and one for fuel, and that's it. You can pull one apart for service in about 10 min.. The chassis is attractive, even "cute". The 300 has more of a programming options, whereas this one has more of a timer.
A good machine, but the replacement is much better.

The Toyotomi Toyo Laser 30 Is A Nice Little Heater
The Toyotomi Toyo Laser 30 is a nice little heater when it is working correctly. The manufacturer needs to improve some of its quality control. When figuring out how large an area it can heat, be very conservative. One also has to figure for insulation in walls, floor, or ceiling and consider windows or they will be disappointed. I service and repair these all the time.

The Toyotomi Toyo Laser 30 Would Be A Nice Heating
The Toyotomi Toyo Laser 30 would be a nice heating product if the manufacturer would improve the product that I paid for. Now the prices have just gone up another 20% - Too much for me to deal with any longer.

We Have Owned Ours For About A Year And A Half Now
We have owned ours for about a year and a half now, with absolutely no problems. In the winter months it runs 24/7 for a good 5 months, due to it being so cold here. (Alaska). No regrets, and if I had to do it over again would buy the same unit.

I Used A Monitor 30 For 16 Years And I Currently U
I used a Monitor 30 for 16 years and I currently use a Monitor 422 (living space) and the Toyotomi Toyo Laser 30 heater (basement). Other than the loose fuel pipe, which never actually caused a problem, it's been utterly reliable and clean burning. No complaints.

Fuel Leaking Out Of The Toyotomi Toyo Laser 30 Was
Fuel leaking out of the Toyotomi Toyo Laser 30 was probally caused either by the leveller pipe breaking loose from the fuel sump or by the external tank being mounted too high in excess of eight feet. The newer laser 30 has a opening on the right side to allow one to tighten the fuel leveller pipe to solve the problem. Older units called for almost complete tear down of the unit. Black smoke out of the exaust vent more likely a #2 heating oil being used instead of #1 or k-1. Remember #1 fuel is border line for use. On number one a yearly or by-yearly cleaning is called for. Use with #2 none of the toyo heaters will run per spec save the OM-22B. Customer sounds a little shy on the owner manual and not too handy with tools.
I Have Installed Two Toyo Laser 30 Heaters And Eac
I have installed two Toyo Laser 30 heaters and each leaked kerosene, (not from installation fittings.) Also, within a few months of use each unit began to emit an overwhelming stench while operating. We've had no problems with our Toyo Laser 73 units, but the Laser 30's are outrageously overpriced garbage.
