Pitch Black (15)

Pitch Black has to be one of the most under-rated sci-fi films Ive seen in recent years. I never heard anything about it and the title was pretty dire, but I was bored and i'd seen everything else for rent so I thought what the hell?

Anyway, the film has some of the most original cinematography ive seen in a long time, the desert scenes, slightly reminiscent of Traffic really give a sense of the extreme desolation and heat of the place.

The creatures aren't in the same class as Alien but they have similar characteristics. The scene with the guy with the lighter who gets seperated is pretty pant-ruining.

Vin Diesel is wicked as a new generation hard man, lets see more of him, he was wiped out far too early.

The lead female is played by an unknown but i'm sure she used to be in Neighbours?

Anyway rent it, its refreshing to see good quality sci-fi horror these days.
