I've Had A Asus E616, Was It Was Very Slow Compari
I've had a ASUS E616, was it was very slow comparing to this TOSHIBA DVD PLAYER. I was a fan of ASUS material and it was very disappointing the ASUS E616.
I Think the Toshiba is great.
A very good option for value for money
The Toshiba 16x Dvd Drive Is Choppy In Its Perform
The Toshiba 16x DVD drive is choppy in its performance and has failed to deliver anything positive that would be worth reporting on! also, it has this pretty overly white tint to it that WON'T MATCH any other components I have!
What good is the >freaking< 48x CD speed that won't even allow you to make your own MP3s (no digital audio extraction)
I belive that these other twits who write positive reviews on this trash need to go and play in traffic or something useful, like entertaining the lions at the local Zoo!

The Real Competition To The Toshiba Would Have To
The real competition to the Toshiba would have to be the Pioneer 16x (my last DVD drive). The Pioneer was great, but it was a little louder than the Toshiba.
Also, the Toshiba has a CD read speed of 48x, whereas the Pioneer peaks at 40x. The 8x is fairly minimal, but still noteworthy.
Lastly, most DVD drives today (including the Pioneer) don't support Digital Audio. The Toshiba 16x DOES! Not only does it support the standard analog format; there is an extra jack on the back that allows for a digital out.

A Dvd Drive Is A Must For Every Pc Owner, Watching
A DVD drive is a must for every PC owner, watching quality DVD's such as the Matrix is great. With a good graphics card I find that you can also output to a large TV.
As far as DVD players go features are standard I guess but I did notice that this model was well built and seemed very solid (not the same with some of the cheaper models).
