Toshiba 36ZP18P/Q

I am still using this TV (Year 2015). This Toshiba 36zp18 CRT TV has got best possible picture I ever seen in CRT screens. I can also easily say that this Toshiba CRT TV has got much better picture than many cheap Full HD LCDs selling in Supermarkets. It is not HD screen but it handles current TV signal so good that you will think it is in HD quality (watching it from around 2m distance). I would buy it again if they still make this TV !

The Toshiba 36ZP18P/Q is a fabulous TV. I would still be using it today but found the new house's living room was too small - gutted!

The Toshiba 36ZP18P/Q is the best looking 36" CRT set on the market, great connectivity, built in Dolby Digital, superb picture quality, beats any LCD.

It developed a fault recently. TV switched itself off. Seems to switch on, but no picture. I removed the teletext card as explained for similar faults on the 32zp18 on this site, and it cured the problem, but obviously no teletext. I them lightly sprayed the teletex cards connector with WD40, and it now works perfectly.

The main thing that attracted me to this TV was the appearance - It has a huge screen, but it doesn't have acres of plastic around outside, so it doesn't take over the room like most TV's this size would.

The excellent picture quality and sound turned out to be even better than I was expecting.

I've had no reliability problems at all so far in over a years use.

I bought the Toshiba 36ZP18P/Qhis Television set after reading the reviews on this site and one at the home cinema web site. The TV was a bargain at £1199, as I had seen it for £1999, so even though they mark up horrendously I still reckon to have saved a fair old wedge. The TV is spot on, if a little heavy to lift (took 2 of us to put on the stand). However, the alignment and geomtery afe spot on, with fantastic colour, pin sharp picture, freeze frame and superb Dolby Digital sound. I have it linked to a Pioneer 454-S DVD and a PACE NTL cable box into Scart 1 (RGB and it is superb quality. A real hats off to Toshiba for this, with the added plus of the "picture frame" design giving the impression of a big screen in a small unit, withou loads of plastic surround.

The Toshiba 36ZP18P/Q offers fantastic sound and picture quality (especially DVD) and, although huge, it is attractive. VHS playback may be a little disappointing after DVD and Digital TV but still acceptable and good quality Pro Logic. 5.1 is exceptional with good quality bass from the built in sub. I saved £560 from high street price at Robertsons online.

Toshiba themselves installed/demonstrated the unit and free delivery too.. what more could you ask for????

BIG TV SET WITH GREAT PICTURES EVEN 4/3 MODE IN WIDESCREEN LOOKS JUST AS GOOD..DOLBY DIGITAL SOUND AND 4 OFFBOARD SPEAKERS WITH BUILT IN SUB WOOFER..OVERALL I CAN'T FAULT THIS BIG TV SET..BEST WITH DVD AND DIGITAL SIGNALS.MONEY WELL SPENT AND I GOT IT AT £510 LESS THAT CURRY'S ARE SELLING IT AT.

This Toshiba 36ZP18P/Q widescreen T.V. is HUGE!!. It has an 81 cm screen, but even for a screen of this size the quality is superb. This T.V. doesn't have loads of fancy features, but it has everything you really need, including 3 SCART sockets, only one of which is RGB compatible, but with a Video & DVD connected, I got everything to work OK.

DVD playback in widescreen is excellent, and the main problem I was expecting with a widescreen T.V. was that normal pictures look "fat" when viewed in widescreen - but not a problem with this T.V. - there are selectable screen sizes, which detect automatically but can be overridden, thus allowing you to have normal T.V. look totally in proportion on widescreen. My overall impression is that this is a high quality piece of Kit. The Picture frame (the border around the tube) is only about 4 cm, so it doesn't look bulky, even though it is deep.

Would I recommend this T.V.? A resounding YES. It is expensive, but by shopping around, I got nearly £450 of the rrp, and it was delivered, assembled and set up by Toshiba themselves - but it did require 2 people to carry it. Plus, the box it comes in is large enough to make a playhouse for the kids too!!
